October 2001: Commute

Since the World Trade Center disaster, life has been a bit crazy for us... Elly's day care center is 10 blocks from what used to be the WTC. Tara and Elly walked through the WTC on September 11th betwen 8:30 am and 8:40 am. There is a story here, but fortunately it has a blessed ending, so we won't share it when there are so many others with tragic endings. Elly's day care is in a federal building, so needless to say, after two weeks of the building being closed and a totally new commute, we are just starting to get back into a rhythm, but a rhythm that changes every day, depending on the police investigations. Here are some pictures of Elly and Dad on the way home from day care this week...

Here's Elly in her backpack walking up Broadway.

Here's a picture of Elly and Dad's reflection. We spend a lot of time looking in windows for our reflections on the walk to the train. We also sing songs and sometimes Elly will clap as Dad snaps his fingers and improvises songs for Elly.

Some random shots on the way home - Manhattan is just as beautiful as it always was.:
